Psilocybin-assisted journeys involves the use of psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain mushrooms, in a controlled and supportive setting. This approach combines the powerful healing potential of psilocybin with professional guidance to facilitate profound emotional and psychological healing.
My specific approach combines science with ceremony - allowing clients to journey in a relaxing and conducive environment with an eye mask and curated playlist, while also receiving a unique individual ceremony supported by guided meditation, energy healing, aromatherapy and sound healing.
This unique experience serves to integrate the mind, body and spirit, supporting whole healing, offering the possibility of emotional and physical release, greater self-awareness, and a connection with the spiritual or mystical.
The deep understandings and insights that can come through a psilocybin journey can provide profound healing and relief from grief, rumination, overwhelm, and disconnection.
Allowing people the chance to immerse themselves back into their own lives, with purpose and intention.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PSILOCYBIN JOURNEYS
Psilocybin works by altering brain activity and connectivity, primarily through its action on serotonin receptors. Serotonin receptors are responsible for complex behaviors, personality expression, decision-making, and moderating social behavior. This action on 5-HT2A serotonin receptors is believed to cause changes in perception, mood, and cognition. Users often report visual and auditory hallucinations, an altered sense of time, and profound emotional experiences.
Psilocybin increases communication amongst different brain regions that don't typically interact, leading to a breakdown of conventional or rigid thought patterns and a sense of interconnectedness. It also reduces activity in the default mode network (DMN), a brain a brain network associated with the self, ego, and various states of consciousness.
The changes in brain activity and connectivity are thought to underlie the therapeutic effects of psilocybin. Research suggests that psilocybin can help reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health conditions by promoting psychological flexibility and disrupting maladaptive patterns of thought.

Determining if you're a good candidate for psilocybin journeys involves assessing several factors related to your mental and physical health, as well as your intentions and readiness for the experience.
Psilocybin journeys may be for you if:
- you are in stable mental health
- have a clear intention for the journey (such as personal growth, healing, or spiritual exploration)
- have an openness to going inward and experiencing new insights
Psilocybin journeys may not be for you if:
- you have a personal or family history of serious mental health disorders like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
- you're looking for a quick fix
- you're not willing to face potentially challenging emotions or insights
- you have certain health conditions such as seizures or cardiovascular issues
- you are taking certain psychotropic medications
*it's important to check with a physician and/or psychiatric provider prior to engaging in psychedelic work.
Participating in psilocybin journeys carries several risks and contraindications that should be carefully considered.
One risk is the potential for psychological distress during the experience, such as intense anxiety, paranoia, or panic attacks, which can be particularly challenging in an unstructured or unsupportive environment. This is typically referred to as a "bad trip." Additionally, individuals with a history of mental health disorders, especially schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, are at greater risk of exacerbating their conditions, as psilocybin can trigger psychotic episodes or manic states. Physical risks include nausea, vomiting, and increased heart rate, though these are typically temporary and less severe.
Contraindications for psilocybin use include current use of certain medications, such as SSRIs, MAOIs, or other psychiatric medications, which can interact negatively with psilocybin and alter its effects. It's also advised to avoid psilocybin if you have cardiovascular issues, as the substance can increase blood pressure and heart rate. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should also avoid psilocybin due to the lack of research on its effects in these populations. Ensuring a safe and controlled environment, having a knowledgeable sitter or guide, and being in good mental and physical health are crucial steps to mitigating these risks.
